I’m willing to concede that poor grammar and spelling are not necessarily indicative of sub par intelligence (for example, I’m not sure if sub par is that, subpar, or maybe sub-par, and I like to think I’m not a complete moron), but it is still really distracting when you get your syllabus and there are major errors. Seriously, prof, I do expect better from you, especially when, after a major mistake in your syllabus, you’re suggesting that all semi-intelligent people are going to have interesting comments and questions in every class, and anybody who doesn’t talk is an idiot.

Moral of the story: I hate when our grades have “participation” factored into them. Also, grammar is important.
